Welcome to 2020

Welcome to 2020

We’ve had a very fun (and busy) O Week this year! We had a great time welcoming new students and catching up with some familiar faces, whether it was at our information events, Postgrad Talks at Rutherford House, courtyard Picnic or the free O Week breakfast at Milk & Honey. We hope everyone who is just starting their postgrad journey got all the information they need to get going, and that everyone got their fill of all the free food on offer!

If you’re a new member of the PGSA: welcome! The PGSA is here to advocate for postgraduate students who need support, recognise excellency among our members, and to foster a community for postgrads at the University. So if you need help, have any questions, or would like to get more actively involved in the PGSA, please get in touch.

Although O Week is now over, we have a ton of great PGSA events coming up in March. In particular, we have our Movie Night fundraiser on March 17th where we’ll be showing The PhD Movie, a humorous look at life as a postgrad from the people behind PhD Comics. Movie Night is for a great cause – the proceeds will go to the Australian Bushfire relief (https://www.frrr.org.au/bushfires).

On top of that, we have our usual programme of regular events, including Breakfast Socials for every campus, Postgrad TalksWriting To Finish and Make and Mingle. These are all great opportunities to connect with your fellow postgrads, make some headway on your work and – of course – grab some free food. We hope to see you soon!
